The reader feels every emotion, every tense moment as well as the tender ones as Rafe and Olivia work side by side. But when trouble comes will they come out unscathed? Will Olivia's past come crashing down around them?

It wasn't a bad book. I liked the characters and liked Rafe and Olivia together. However, I found it distracting that the author switched character voices with only a paragraph indentation. I read this on my kindle app so it's possible a printed version has some sort of a symbol marking the change. I would be inside Rafe's mind, and without warning, switch to the thoughts of another character. 3/4 of the way through I started skimming.
I always know I'm in for a treat when I buy a book by Kat Martin. Rafe and Liv's story is set in Valdez Alaska. Rafe Brody is a handsome charter boat owner and Olivia owns a local cafe. The murder of Rafe's crew chief brings them together. Olivia has a secret past that she's determined to keep hidden. That's only the start of the story! I recommend reading all three of the Brodies of Alaska books but each can be read as a stand alone
Kat Martin takes the reader along on an adventure that keeps you turning page after page to find out if your hunches are right. When Olivia finds a home in a small town in Alaska, she feels she can relax a bit from the secret she is carrying. That security is short lived and a new problem develops. Will she escape in one piece?
I've just finished "Against the Tide" 3rd book in the Brodies of Alaska Series. All of the books are wonderful. Suspense, romance, teary moments...getting caught up with the characters, imagining being right there in the story.
Kat Martin is an amazing author. Able to take you to the heights and depths of emotional situations, drawing you deep into the Alaskan wilderness.
Am ready to continue into the next Brodie adventure!
Olivia is on the run from her past. She has set up a new life in Valdez, Alaska where she owns a cafe and avoids getting too close to people. Rafe is the captain of a fishing/expidition boat. After a mutual friend is murdered, Liv and Rafe work together to help the police solve the murder. In doing so, Liv's past is exposed and Rafe has to decide whether or not she is telling the truth.
This is the first of the series I read and now I am going back to books 1 and 2. The couple had chemistry, they were like able, he was helping here and there was a mystery to solve. It had all the components of a good romance novel. The story had some predicability to it but that would be the only criticism I have.
KAT IS A FAVE AUTHOR. THE SETTING FOR THIS BOOK TAKES PLACE BY THE DOCKS AND A CAFE THAT IS LIKE A MEETING PLACE FOR THE LOCALS. IT BEGINS WITH A MURDER AND THE REST OF THE BOOK LOOKS FOR THE KILLER/S BUT RAFE IS A SEXY CHARACTER WHOM YOU WILL LIKE A LOT. KAT IS SOMEONE YOU CAN DEPEND ON TO WRITE A GREAT STORY. I LOVE HER.
